Count Every Hero sent a letter to the Chair and Ranking Member of the Senate Rules Committee urging the committee to reform the 1887 law governing the electoral count.

Washington, DC  — Members of Count Every Hero co-signed a letter with partner organizations Leadership Now Project and Making Every Vote Count addressed to Senate Rules and Administration Committee Chair Amy Klobuchar and Ranking Member Roy Blunt regarding the Electoral Count Act of 1887.

The Act, the letter argued, contains fundamental flaws that should be reformed in the wake of attempts to exploit it following the 2020 presidential election, and to that end recommended the committee support the legislative effort to reform the law. The letter urged the committee to support the proposed Electoral Count Reform and Presidential Transition Improvement Act as an effective improvement on the post-election process that would concurrently reduce national security vulnerabilities created by electoral disputes and the transfer of power at large.
